Program Outline

Group discussions form a mandatory part of many a selection process. However the very format is surrounded by many myths and wrong inferences. This program deals with removing those myths and analyzing the Group discussion process in a more logical manner. The candidates will learn about their style of communication and how to fare better when subjected to a group discussion environment.

Selection process in a group discussion – myths and facts

The most often used cliché for a group discussion has been that if you initiate the discussion your chances of selection becomes better – myth or fact?? This and many more queries and unknown facts are to be discovered by participants in this session.

How to approach?

What strategies to deploy for successfully negotiating a group discussion. The do's and dont's to ensure success. How and when to counter? Difference between a discussion and a debate.

What’s your communication style? How to capitalize on it?

You can only be as good as you want to be. But for that you want to know about your own self. In the group discussion context it becomes imperative for you to know more about your communication style. This unit empowers you with knowledge about your communication style and how to capitalize on it.

Practicing with mock group discussions.

The session culminates with a series of various types of mock interviews, which may be videotaped at participants request for further accentuated learning.

By the end of this program, participants will have the knowledge and skills to deal with group discussions more effectively. They will know through practice what skills are being analyzed at any given point of time in the process.
